YouTube
is an amusing and entertaining option to cable and an excellent way to
promote your product, website or blog. You can view music videos, find
old movies, see videos posted by friends, promote your product and
absorb learning tutorials. YouTube was created by three former PayPal
employees Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim in 2005. In November
of 2006, YouTube was purchased by Google for $1.65 billion.
You
don't need a free YouTube account to view videos, but if you want to
like, comment, rate, save or subscribe to favorite channels, you will
need an account. Also, if you have a blog or a website, you will without
doubt want an account so that you can create short videos to promote
your website or blog. And, if you have a camera attached to your
computer, you can actually record short videos right on YouTube, which
is so simple it is insane.
If you want to use YouTube to promote
your blog, YouTube is one of the quickest was to get people to your site
because it gets so much traffic. As a matter of fact every video I have
created has at least 3 or 4 viewings in just a few days. People wanting
to create a YouTube account is a niche market so the viewings are not
high, but the traffic is imperative.
When creating your YouTube
account, it is very important that if you are promoting a website, that
you include the address as often as possible. I also add the URL where
requested, to my profile photo and to each of my videos so that when the
search engine spiders are out on the crawl, they can see the URL as
often as possible to boost my website's ranking.
YouTube is a very
popular site so having your website sited will help to improve the
ranking and make it higher on Google's list of websites when someone is
searching for the information you are producing on videos. YouTube is
free to view videos, but you will need an account to promote your site,
add videos to promote your product, comment on other people's videos and
subscribe to channels you enjoy the most. The link below will show you
how to create an account if you don't already have one. So take the time
and join the YouTube community!
Quick note: I just have to tell
this quick story. I tell this story because if you are a serious
marketing professional you know not to do what this man did. The owner
of Universal Tube and Rollform Equipment named his website utube.com.
When YouTube launched utube kept being overloaded so the owner changed
the website address to utubeonline. My immediate reaction was "What?" Really?
What
in the world was that man thinking? Here he gets free traffic which
will improve his rankings and keep his site up at the top. Free
advertising! He should have upped his server capacity, switched to
different content on that site to generate money and renamed his primary
business website.
So I did some research and he did exactly that! Today
utube is still owned by Universal Tube and utube.com is a celebrity
website that people can sign up for and the top banner is Universal
Tube, which is the only advertising until you sign up and you get that
awful succession of offers to sign up for (yes I tested it, all to my
junk email account of course). Today the site is globally ranked on
Allexa.com is 46,730 with a Google rank of 4/10.
